It's Here!!! And yet already seemingly gone...

Lanvin for H&M! - Opening was today at 8am on Newbs Street, got there at around 8:10. Stood in line for about 35 minutes and I get handed a wristband with the guy saying I can't see the collection until 12:05. Promptly I tell myself I knew I should have gotten there earlier. Oh well, fingers crossed I get something... (Even if it is just a stuffed animal poodle. Although I'll settle for a bracelet...)

Alas, within 2 hours, I may either find myself in heaven or have my hopes crushed, who knows!! I'll get back to ya on that. Thanks for stopping by.

A Halloween Retrospective

So I lost track of all the clothes I've bought since the last post. Ergo, instead! I have a couple of pictures of the Catwoman mask I made for the Halloween season. I realize it is slightly over, but I post this as a sort of... retrospective?

I miss when I had music in my posts, so I'm bringing it back yeahh!

Dollar A Pound vs. Garment District - Get your game face on!

I feel like such a champ after sorting through the mounds and piles of CLOTHES. Mens, womans, kids, fabric, pillowcases, couch covers? It was virtually impossible not to step on something if you really wanted to find some treasures. And treasures I found!

(This is just a cumulative view of everything. They had these great clear plastic bags to carry everything around in. Suffice to say, looked sort of hobo-ish. We stopped by a starbucks however and upon seeing the bags the barista surmised we took a trip to the Garment District - right she was!)

Actually I was quite envious of my fellow shopping companion. It seemed like she just plucked her hand down and what do you know?? TREASURE! Haha, what it would be like to have that power 24/7...

10 Days You Say H&M? I'll be there. Every. Single. Day.

"Celebrating 10 Years of Fashion in the USA"
I can't believe H&M has only been in the US for 10 years! It's still such a baby and yet it's tenth is as big of an event as an international [10 day] holiday. And yet, I'm not surprised one bit. Quite frankly, I'm ecstatic!

I went to H&M on Newbury to check out the sales going on, and of course I end up buying a number of items - none of them on sale. Typical.
Items include: pink lace printed dress tee, blue and white striped knee length sweater, caramel toned cami tank dress, and a cropped black and red striped long sleeve (what can I say, I've been quite into the circus inspired look lately!).

WCAGA - worth every penny.

So as you know, a while back I went to New York. I had been hearing a lot of hype surrounding What Comes Around Goes Around. Kind of like a high class thrift store (what I would give to have one here in Boston. Or rather to find it here in Boston). I saw a pair of very vintage totally awesome Manolos, IN MY SIZE TOO! But strange enough when I put them on, only one of them fit. The other was squashing my foot and I knew that no matter how much I loved them, walking around Boston/walking to class/doing whatever other mischief I might find in them would just be impractical and painful on both my feet and my poor poor debit card.
However, I tried on a pair of jeans that looked FANTASTIC! The only catch was the waistband was feeling rather tight, and stiff - seemingly no give. For the price, I felt really hesitant to part with that much cash if they were gonna squeeze my insides every time I sat down or ate too much.
So I walked around a little more, hit all my usual spots like Topshop and Opening Ceremony and NADA! ZIP! ZIPPO! Almost dazed, I realized that I just couldn't get over those pants.
I make the trek back to What Comes Around Goes Around, relieved to find that they are still there. Tried them on, double check successful, and brought them to the register. *card declined* WHHAAA. Yeah really shouldn't have been too surprised haha.
Fortunately, I was able to order them through the phone once I got back (many thanks to the accommodating staff of WCAGA!), and a week or so later, I laid my eyes on the fantastical pair of denim. This was all the weekend of Sept 25th, like I said.. I have lots to get you up to speed on.

*side note: they have ripped considerably since these pictures were taken. They still look fierce, but I'm gonna have to think of wearing leggings underneath them now as we approach the cooler seasons. = (

Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo

I went to the Buffalo Exchange about a week ago (actually a little over, Sept 24th to be exact, as the file into which I uploaded them reminds me). For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a new thrift store. For those of you in Boston, it's right off of the B line - green line to Harvard Ave, walk to the corner of commonwealth and harvard ave, down harvard ave and you're there.

180 Harvard Ave., Allston
Boston, MA 02134
(617) 779-7901

I shouldn't be quick to judge. A friend also pointed out "why would you go to a new old clothes store?" (even if he was being clever...). I wasn't much impressed with the selection. The best part would have to be the shoes but those can be hit or miss. And that's one of the things that frustrates me about thrift store, they are always hit or miss.

I did get these Nine West pumps though for a fraction of the retail price, so that made me pretty happy!

Bluefly... Fly me away to a land of designer clad closets

So much I have yet to update, I've just been so busy that I've gotten lazy. (Or I'm making excuses ; ] )

First off, my bluefly order came in. And it was so cute because they had the cardboard box, then a bluefly shopping bag inside. Too cute!!!

I got a peacock printed dress from label 382. Probably my favorite thing about it is the jersey knit slip feature while the print is on this kind of slinky chiffon. Light and airy while still retaining a great amount of comfort and security. Definitely becoming one of my go-to dresses!

I also got a pair of dolce vita gladiators, but they just didn't seem to fit right. they were too big in certain areas and it just appeared too flat. It was quite a let down! And unfortunately I don't have any really good photos of them. All I have is a picture of the bag that came along with them. I'm so upset I have to return them, if not just for the bag.

Continuation!

So quick post before I have to go to class!
This is the dress from H&M that I got in NY,
Very fem flirty romantic.
I'd love to pair it with my leather lace up ankle boots
and either a black cropped cardi or a leather jacket.
This is however paired with my (also) new Alexander Wang cropped sweater.
How do you like?

Lovin', Is What I Got.

Well, I didn't really get "Lovin" while I was in NY for two days, but I sure got a lot of clothes. Which I don't know about you but it was sure good enough for me. Let's review!

American Apparel -
Exibit A:

Exibit B: mesh top sweetheart geo-print dress (I'll post a pic later!)

Alexander Wang cropped knit turtleneck sweater -
This one was my favorite. Made it to Opening Ceremony at Ace Hotel finally, sans celebrations but most importantly sans crowd! The people working there were very nice, they offered to hold my suitcase and already present shopping bag while I looked around. Very impressed with the staff. Polite inquiry on if I needed help finding anything or if I had questions. I liked looking around at what they had. Some items peaked my interest but not longer than a couple of glances. And then, I saw the sweater. Trust me when I say my wallet was halfway out of my purse before you could say "Alexander Wang". (I still tried it on, always err on the side of caution. I still loved it.) Only thing is I wish it was a small or xsmall rather than a medium. But hey, you take what you can get.

H&M -
Knit vest flyaway cardigan sweater
Spaghetti strap ruched mini dress
(Pictures to come!!)

Surprisingly, I didn't get anything from Topshop. I mean, I typicaly do, but it was getting towards the end of my shopping excursion and everything I saw reminded me of what I had already gotten, cept not as good. Tried three things on, wasn't impressed. Especially for the prices. Although I am disappointed I didn't take advantage of their year round 10% student discount...

I did find a FABULOUS pair of denim from What Comes Around Goes Around. Those however are being shipped to me, so I'm gonna have to wait on showing you those. Sadly.

Quick stop at Opening Ceremony yielded no results. I wasn't exactly into it because I had already found what I was looking for. And I couldn't find any remaining Alex Wang items - those get me every time. The staff also seemed pretty exhausted, which is understandable. I was relieved when staffer Lizzy offered to hold my bags (must be an Opening Ceremony thing, niice). There was a Rodarte display up, which was mad cool. Noticed a lot of new faces since the last time I was there. And yeah pretty much. Good times in nyc!

3 Words - Fashion's Night Out

Yeah maybe you've been seeing too many, but yes, I am doing a Fashion's Night Out post.

HOWEVER, I will admit. I kind of missed it.
Class till 3, an hour to get my shit together, 4 1/2 hour bus over to NY, 1 hour to get to my hotel, 1 hour waiting for my trusty shenanigan partner in crime to get to where I was.

I still thought I could get in on at least one store. So, closest to my hotel was Opening Ceremony at the Ace Hotel on Broadway. We get in line, it wraps around the corner. Meh, we still got time.
We make it to around the corner, some guy lookin' all official says "we close in 50 min, so, not all of you will make it". Some chick screams, "it's not worth it!!" The line now looks like this:

Now, while it didn't look to promising, there really weren't many alternatives at the time. All the other hot spots were a good few minutes away, even via subway.
And well, we didn't get in. But, we did get free ice cream-

Sooo, we decided to take the T around and find something to do.

Aaaannd came upon this:

(we didn't plan this, I swear. the red and white was just what fate had in store ;] )

Hope you had a fantastic Fashion's Night Out!!! (of those of you who actually made it)
I'd love to hear stories!
Hit me upp!

Destination: Inspiration

A couple of noteworthy events coming up! Just a couple of days ago I submitted my application to Teen Vogue’s Fashion University (it seems like it’s been forever, the decision can’t seem to arrive in my ever hungry inbox fast enough) and although it’s not until October, there’s still the anxious anticipation that makes it worth mentioning. Fashion’s Night Out is almost a month away to this day (plus one), I’ve just yet bought my ticket from Boston to New York and set aside a tidy amount of cash in preparation. Fashion Week is right around the corner of FNO, and who know what kind of craziness will ensue from the move from Bryant Park to Lincoln Center. (Of course I’m going to be admiring from afar, style.com and nymag.com are two of my closest friends.)

So, what are your plans for these events? Will you be attending FNO in NY, Savannah, LA, Paris, Milan, Tokyo?

Same thing, Different trick

You maayy notice, I’m using the same cardigan as from the post below this one (Fearless). I just love it that much. I mean, when you get such a versatile sweater for $9.99, you tend to overuse it. It was the greatest though, because today I realized, “What if I… UNBUTTONED THE BUTTONS AND OPENED THE CARDIGAN??”. Moment of [not really] brilliance. Made me so happy!

Fearless

Rock climbing is so many things, and I can’t say many of them are bad. The pull and strain of the muscles working, the triumph from overcoming a difficult climb, the adrenaline rush from climbing the heights (or on the auto-belay, the decent back down). Sometimes it’s the leap of faith when you’re in a tight spot, and all there’s left to do is to reach. There’s the rewarding connection of hand to rock that provides confirmation of success. Gosh I love these days.

Maybe adding a little bit more fearless into the wardrobe?

Oh the Things You Find...

... In your basement/mother's closet!

My mom's been going through this cleaning phase (err cleaning spree, she does this a lot), but there are quite a few perks! Liike some great clothing finds =] (More to come! Soon! Hopefully!)

So these leggings were pretty much the center piece. They weren't exactly something my mom put up for grabs, but as soon as I saw it I fell in love! As for the leotard, my mom was going to give it away but I said, "no way!" Moral of the story, go raid your attics and basements, you'll find the coolest stuff, and that's a promise = )

Hey There Stranger, Welcome Back

It seems like I haven't posted in forever. Definitely in the blogger world, a week and three days is like 3 years, so I'm going to have to catch up quickly. What's the good word on the street?

~ These are mostly old images/outfits that I've already had hanging around, but you know how I am with photo montages. ~

~ Now there is one place I want to see more than anything, and that would be France. Maybe Paris for the retail and the high end couture. Maybe the countryside to see what France is like sans tourisme. Either way, I was absolutely jealous when fellow classmates came back from their French Exchange trip a while back. And just now I am showing you some of the great inspiring pics they brought back, enjoy! ~

(below, photo cred: Sophia Mo)
(below, photo cred: Sophia Mo, pic of: gearworks of the Eiffel Tower)
(below, photo cred: Courtney Ravalese)
(below, photo cred: Courtney Ravalese, pic of: inside the pyramid at Le Louvre)

~ As you can see, it's not exactly outfits but a lot of geometric shapes. I find it quite inspiring, although I'm not sure where I'm going to go with it yet. But, I will let! you! know! ~

~ And lastly, it just has to be said. What do you think about (as LEAH CHERNIKOFF from fashionista.com would say) meggings? ~

(Top left to bottom right: Versace, Versace, Burberry Prorsum, John Varvatos)

My take: I think men should wear what they feel comfortable wearing. If we women can wear cone bras, then why can't men have some fun? Of course, that is in moderation. For me, it's still a no-no to wear short-shorts and a tube top. So please, men. If you do decide upon going with the man jeggings, do like John Varvatos here and wear them with class (unless that's just the model that's doing all the work. I mean, heelloooo!)
